Our Pets

Below are pictures of our favorite pets. Please e-mail photos of your favorite pet to:  bonniekgorman@comcast.net

Helen(7) and Harry(10) with 'Jack', a gift from their Uncle Jim. Must have been   a  very cooperative photographer to let this burro in his studio. Gaylord, Michigan, 1904.

Always fascinated by her 'Kodak', Helen Eby labeled this "my first Kodak"

age 15 months. Gaylord, Michigan, 1895.

May 22, 1897. Helen Louise Eby and friend.

I heard many stories and adventures about my father, E.B. Isett, and his dog, 'Tuffy'.

                                                                                                          'Jack'

'Jack' was my favorite pet. Unfortunately no one else felt quite so fondly towards him. He was always very tame with me and would tap on the door every evening at 5:15 pm, when it was time for him to go into his special "coop". Meaning, the time we put him in a dark enclosure for the night, far from the neighbors whom he annoyed unceasingly. Except for me, he attacked everyone else viciously by running up from behind them and jumping on their backs. Jack went to live a wonderful life with all the barnyard animals at the S.P.C.A.-truly.

'Speckels' was another one of our chickens that grew up to be a Rooster. 'Speckels' went to live at a beautiful farm. Sadly, none of the other roosters at the farm really wanted another rooster, and we think his adventures there may have been short-lived.  Tory loved him very much.

'Napoleon' was Evan's second pig to raise for the fair.

'Pet' might not be the best word for an animal you are going to eat.

'Big Red' and 'Deborah' are shown here with Tory and Evan on showmanship day at the fair.

                                                                   And here is Teddy!!!

Teddy was a Christmas gift to my sister Leigh--and I know she will never,

ever, let me forget how much trouble he is.  But even she will admit

that he is the cutest, sweetest, most precious puppy ever.   Although

he does have a few extremely bad habits.
